router-less ethernet?

Is it possible to configure either my computer (running Ubuntu 17.10) or the labjack to work over the ethernet cable when plugged directly to my computer (i.e. no intervening router)?

I have often done this by using a static IP address for both the computer and the LabJack T7.

Most modern computers don't require a straight-through cable when using a direct connection and not using a router, so this should work fine for you.
