Although LJControl can find and control my U3 with no problems, the example c# applications (such as Easy Functions) cannot find it, instead firing the exception "LJMException: LJME_U3_CANNOT_BE_OPENED_BY_LJM". Can anyone help? I am using Visual Studio 2015. Many thanks.

Sounds like you grabbed the wrong examples as LJM is for the T-series. You want examples for the UD library:
