Whenever I plug the LabJack into the computer via USB, the status LED blinks 3 or 4 times, but will not remain solid. I also cannot find it in the the device manager. Does this mean the LabJack is damaged?
It sounds like the U3 is not enumerating properly. I would first recommend installing our newest installer package, power cycling the device, and then trying again:

Try rebooting the PC ( I would recommend a full shut down then power on rather than a restart).
After that, check that your device drivers are installed properly:
